Heating Oil Purchase Group

The Allerton Environmental Group has formed a bulk heating oil purchase group, which is linked into the Badgworth Oil Purchase Group. The Badgworth co-ordinator monitors oil prices and organises the group purchase to be made and negotiates the group purchase price.

The Allerton Co-ordinator circulates, by email, to the membership of the Allerton Group, when an order is being planned. Each member then places their order by return email to the Allerton Co-ordinator and once the order is placed will indicate the price and may be able to give an indication of likely delivery period.Depending on the oil company selected, the company may telephone group members with a more precise delivery date, although this should not be relied upon. On delivery, recipients will be handed a tanker delivery note by the driver, confirming the amount delivered. Each member of the purchase group is individually invoiced by the oil company and is responsible for making their own payment directly to the oil company, upon receipt of invoice; which is usually about 5 working days after delivery*. Payment should NOT be sent to the group co-ordinator.

Note 1: Oil is normally ordered about four times a year depending on demand from members, usually July/August (lower summer prices), November (winter top-up), January (additional top-up), and March (replenish tanks after the winter - especially AGA and Rayburn owners).

Note 2*: Depending on the oil company selected, new members may have to pre-pay for their first delivery from a particular company and will be contacted by the company before delivery if required.

Note 3: Price is usually several pence per litre less than the lowest price quoted by boilerjuice.com or for individual orders.
