Waste Collections

New Sort-It-Plus recycling arrangements commenced in July 2009 (those new recycling bins. A calendar of collection days is available online here.

New Receptacles: ONLY contents of boxes and bins bearing the Somerset Waste Partnership Logo will be collected

GREEN Box (Weekly Collection): paper, junk mail, yellow pages, directories, glass bottles and jars, aluminium foil, clothes(bagged), Shoes(paired) and car batteries.

1 BLACK Box (Weekly Collection): plastic bottles marked 1 or 2 (no tops), food and drink cans, cardboard (flattened) Other plastic containers marked 5 or 6 can be recycled at the plastic bank in Winscombe.

1 BROWN Kitchen Caddy: food waste (raw and cooked food) incl. meat and fish.

1 BROWN Bin: (Weekly Collection) with built in lock for outside storage and collection of food waste.

Consider home composting of non-meat and fish waste if you have the space (Somerset Waste Partnership are offering composting bins for £14.50 220 litre and £17.50 330 litre.)

1 GREY Wheeled Bin: (Fortnightly Collection) for non-recyclables (remember minimise this, as it goes to landfill.

Additionally:

GREEN Wheeled Bins (or sacks) are available at a charge, for garden waste, on a subscribe to, chargeable collection.
